A truly exciting experience

Anna Magnell, student, Stockholm, Sweden:

I was at a crossroads in my life, did not know what I wanted to do: study or work. I also had problems in my relationship. I learnt Acem Meditation during a retreat last autumn.

Meditation helped me get over my anxiety and unease. At the retreat, many people spoke highly of the communication course. I checked it out and got interested, so I applied for a student scholarship that helped me afford the course.

It has been an extremely exciting experience. The challenges I met here were precisely the ones I needed to meet. Although I’ve studied project leadership as an academic subject, the course made me realize that stepping into a leadership role doesn’t always come naturally to me. I struggle to make others listen to me and to occupy the space necessary to be a leader.

This course has also given me valuable insight into who I am, how others see me, and the fears that tend to limit me in daily life. I’m still the same person, but I now have a deeper understanding of why I react the way I do in certain situations, which is a necessary step toward personal change and growth.

Halvorsbøle is a thoroughly harmonious place, coming here you immediately relax and no longer think about scrolling your phone or being distracted by the outside world. After intense group sessions, it was nice to go for walks with others, talking about everyday things and simply enjoying the surroundings.

The next Training in Interpersonal Communication starts on Saturday, 1. August 2026 at Halvorsbøle International Retreat Centre, Oslo – which is during the summer time / holiday season. So this is a special opportunity – the course usually takes place before the summer.
